If you're in Portland - go to Andina!

Every summer for the past decade we have escaped at least a week of the desert heat by taking a family trip to the Oregon Coast. Ahh - such a respite from the brutal summer heat in redrock country.

We generally fly into Portland, rent a car, and then head to Lincoln City for a week. Most years we schedule an extra night and day in Portland just because it's a great city with a great bookstore (Powells) and it's a foodies paradise.

A couple of times we've dined at Andina's in the Pearl District. It's an exquisite Peruvian restaurant run by a family that immigrated to Portland several years ago.

The food is nothing short of outstanding, as are the drinks. Be sure to go for a Pisco Sour with your pre-dinner tapas. Truly, this place is good. Don't miss it if you are visiting the Rose City!   http://www.andinarestaurant.com/
