Yay! Hailey is Home for the Holidays! Let the Cooking Begin!

So my sweet Hailey arrived home from Salt Lake City last night bearing bags of groceries from Trader Joe's. I'd sent her my list of must-have stuff and ended it with "and anything else that looks good." So just what is it that looks good to a vegan-leaning daughter? Seaweed! Frickin' seaweed if you can believe it?

Of course it is vegan seaweed. How could it be anything else since it's just a bunch of dried kelp.

Yum - reminds me of my childhood. You see I grew up on the shores of Puget Sound - used to swim often in Commencement Bay, long before they declared the seafloor a superfund site with no real hope of cleaning it up, just leave it be - that shit is toxic down there, don't stir it up!

 Yes - this dried seaweed reminds me exactly of what it tasted like when I got a big gulp of Commencement Bay seawater in my mouth. Subtle yet repulsive.

Excuse me while I go brush my teeth - and thank God we have some Christmas goodies of the non-seaweed variety in the household!
